Your receding hairline can be due to family or medical history. Each case of receding hairline could have a different cause which requires different treatment. To learn how to treat your receding hairline you will have to research your physical and genetic background. Even after doing quite a bit of investigating and deciding on a course of action, success can be limited.

The most common cause for a receding hairline is genetics. These inherited genes are normally transferred through the maternal side of the family. It is also more commonly found in males but can also be experienced by females. There are quite a few remedies now available that show promise in clinical and actual tests.

Hair loss can be experienced on several levels to which researchers have given particular labels. Hairloss described as “male pattern baldness” will be referred to as androgenic alopecia. A receding hairline could be technically labeled alopecia areata When a total loss of hair on the head occurs it is called alopecia totalis. Alopecia universalis is given to total loss of hair on the whole body.

You will want to find a treatment matter what type of hairloss you are experiencing. The origin of the hairloss will have to be named before starting a treatment. Once you have discovered the cause, which sometimes is quite difficult, then you can experiment with the various remedies available. The treatments can range from medicinal, natural, or in some cases, experimental.

Stress could be one source of hairloss. The loss of a loved one, divorce, job change, finances and other issues can be the source of the stress. At the first sign of hair loss make an appointment with your medical doctor. Once you have reduced the source of stress in your life the hair loss should stop. Most cases also respond well to some type of topical treatment.

Health issues are quite often connected to receding hairline. Cancer patients receiving chemotherapy treatments almost always will experience hair loss. Once the treatments have ended most patients will see their hair return. Although it may not be quite the same as was there originally, it is still hair. Patients get through this time by wearing a wig or scarf or by simply shaving their hair at the start of the treatments. A shaved head seems to have become very trendy today.

Many studies reveal that smokers may be more susceptible to hairloss. This is another very good reason to consider quitting the smoking habit.

Scientists are constantly experimenting with new treatments, medications and therapies. Taking vitamin E is one idea for hairloss treatment. Gene therapy is another type of treatment currently under scrutiny.
