Adult Acne Treatment - I Thought I Got Rid Of Acne Years Ago!

Published by Clear Skin at 12:38 pm under Acne

As we all know, acne is a teenage nightmare. Many teenagers consider having a zit to be a fate worse than death. The good news is that, generally, acne issues stop when people reach adulthood. Some adults don’t escape acne so easily and often find themselves searching for an adult acne treatment years later.

Adult acne can, in many ways, be even more upsetting and hard to deal with than teenage acne. If you suffer from adult acne, it might be caused by a hormonal imbalance. It could also be caused by general stress. Medications you are on could even cause your acne to become worse.

If you have adult acne, you are probably desperate for a cure. It might be affecting your job, your social life and your general self-esteem. Before you can figure out how to treat your skin problem, though, you need to first understand what causes acne.

Acne is caused by pore blockage in your skin. The blockage happens when dead skin cells aren’t removed. When your pores are all plugged up, it causes something called sebum to build up. The resulting bacteria cause your skin to become really irritated and red. It’s that whole process that causes acne break outs.

Luckily for you and other acne sufferers, many products exist that can help acne. Most of the popular ones contain retinoids. Retinoids come from vitamin A. The most common one is Retin-A.

Retin-A is an acne medication that has to be prescribed by your doctor. If you’re looking for a quicker or perhaps cheaper fix though, don’t worry. You can get over the counter treatments that contain retinol or another retinoid instead.

Whether over the counter or prescription, these medications have one thing in common. They take away the stickiness that creates cell blockage. Since the cells can’t get blocked up, bacteria is unable to accumulate in your cells. No bacteria build up means no acne. So, using any of these products should drastically reduce your acne outbreaks.

There are lots of products out there that help to unclog pores. So, if you have acne, you might find yourself going through quite a bit of trial and error to find a product that works for you. You might start with trying some of the cleansers on the market. Many of them can be very helpful, since they can get straight to the sebaceous matter stuck in your cells.

Using such cleansers is not a quick fix so remember to have some patience. If you use them daily, in a few weeks you find that your acne has improved and your skin looks healthier.

Don’t stop there, though. If you keep using the adult acne treatment cleansers on a regular basis, you should be able to prevent your acne from coming back. So, don’t let your acne control you. Instead, take control of your acne!
